This is a Critical Reading Club worksheet. With this format, students need to read an online article at home and do the exercises in the classroom. Learn more about how to use such worksheets and their benefits in our post.
ACTIVITIES
In the warm-up activity, students need to come up with three things that fall into categories, e.g. popular pizza toppings. Then, they discuss the article they read at home and talk about the food industry. After that, students do a vocabulary task in which they need to choose one of three words in each statement (e.g. automation, operate, quality). They also say which of the statements they agree with. If they don’t agree, they have to change the statements. Finally, students look at five automation ideas (e.g. a 3D food printer) and choose which ones they would invest in and why.

I’ve been using this lesson over the last few days with a lot of my students. I like how website has both a video and text. It also encompasses a lot of interesting themes like food, labour shortage, automation etc. Works well for all sorts of students! Thanks as always for your wonderful lesson plans!

Hi! Students don’t need to watch the video, though. They just need to read the article and the access to it is open
I appreciate that you don’t need to watch the video linked to the reading article, but I have tried it in Firefox and Chromium and I get the message ‘unsupported browser’. I will warn my students about this, but does anybody know which browser it will work on? Thanks.
As you mentioned, the lesson is not based on the video but on the article only. So students don’t need to watch it. (I can’t access the video either.)
