LESSON OVERVIEW

In this lesson, students talk about the fashion industry and use advanced vocabulary to praise or criticise someone or something.

C2 / Proficiency30 minCritical Reading ClubUnlimited Plan

This is a Critical Reading Club worksheet. With this format, students need to read an online article at home and do the exercises in the classroom. Learn more about how to use such worksheets and their benefits in our post.

ACTIVITIES

First, students discuss the ideas from the article they read at home. Then, they decide which words and phrases from a list (e.g. commend, condemn, denounce) are used to praise or criticise someone or something. After that, students express their opinions on five fashion industry actions using phrases provided for each action. Finally, students get another speaking practice. They have to read a quote about fashion and discuss some questions related to it.

I love your lesson plans and the articles you choose for critical reading are fascinating and always interesting for my students! It would be great though if you could add more exercises focused on key vocabulary from the articles, as I feel like lexical aspect lacks in CRC worksheets.

Hi Elena! It’s super important to us to hear that these worksheets are engaging and useful 🙂 Our idea was to make students speak a lot, so we don’t include lots of vocabulary in them, but we’ll think about it and we might extend the CRC worksheets in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

What currencies can I pay in for my subscription?

Our default currency is USD (American dollar), but you can also pay in EUR (euro), GBP (British pound sterling) or PLN (Polish zloty). You can change the currency you want to pay in at the Pricing page before selecting a subscription plan.

How can I edit an e-lesson plan?

You can get your own editable copy of an e-lesson plan and make changes to it. To do so, either (1) make a copy of it on your Google Drive (preferable method) or (2) download it in a Powerpoint format (but formatting might be a bit off so we can’t guarantee that it will work well).
