NEWS SUMMARY

Due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict, global oil and gas prices have increased sharply.

Countries around the world are taking action to reduce the impact on their citizens:

  • Asia: Many countries are saving energy by introducing shorter working weeks, encouraging people to work from home and limiting fuel use. Some governments are also increasing gas production or controlling how fuel is used.
  • Europe: Several countries are cutting fuel taxes or giving financial support to industries to reduce costs.
  • Oceania: Parts of Australia have made public transport free to reduce fuel use.
  • Africa: Some countries are saving energy by reducing electricity use, closing businesses earlier and encouraging people to work from home.
