LESSON OVERVIEW
In this lesson students discuss who a content creator is and practise some vocabulary useful when defining vague terms.
This is a Critical Reading Club worksheet. With this format, students need to read an online article at home and do the exercises in the classroom. Learn more about how to use such worksheets and their benefits in our post.
ACTIVITIES
At the beginning of the lesson students come up with five words that would fit into a sentence about the term ‘content creator’. Then, they read six sentences, discuss which of them could also refer to the term and explain their choices. The sentences contain language useful when providing definitions (e.g. catch-all term, connote, pejorative). After that, students discuss questions about the idea of a ‘content creator’ using the information they learned from the article they read at home. Finally, they decide how to define several terms (e.g. artist, influencer, YouTuber) using some of the useful vocabulary.
