With this lesson set, your students will:

  • learn how to compare things using different structures, 
  • talk about paper books vs e-books,
  • read an article about the benefits of reading, 
  • practise their skills by comparing things from the topic of your choice: different generations or team vs individual sports.

The set provides opportunities to make comparisons and discuss interesting and relatable topics.

Printed books vs e-books – making comparisons

General Grammar

Before class, students learn how to compare using different grammatical items: as + adjective + as, modifiers such as nearly, far, much, almost, slightly, etc. In class, they put it into practice, watch a video comparing paper books and e-books and learn some vocabulary (e.g. flip through, adjust, retain).

What’s the point of reading books?

Lifestyle

Students read an article about why adults don’t read and discuss their experience. They also revise some vocabulary from the article (e.g. be out of practice, see the point). Encourage students to use the vocabulary from Lesson 1 in ex. 5 (slide 13).

Understanding generations

General

Students identify and discuss stereotypes related to different generations. Students also watch a comedy video on how generations behave at work and imagine how the youngest generation will behave in different areas of life. Encourage students to use comparisons in ex. 4 (slide 12) and in ex. 6, 7 (slides 16, 17).

    Is there a possibility to put the lesson sets away from the main “lesson plans” page (as a separate tag maybe)? They all appear there now and it’s confusing which ones are new and which ones are just the old ones but in a set. Thank you

      Hi! You can filter the lesson sets out by ticking the ‘standalone lesson’ on the search and filter page, and this way you won’t see lesson sets at all. BTW all lesson sets are based on already published materials.

Is there a minimum subscription period if I choose a monthly subscription?

No, there's no minimum required number of subscription months. You can cancel any time you want. Basically, you can sign up and then cancel your subscription the next day, which will mean you have access for 1 month and won't be charged again.

What currencies can I pay in for my subscription?

Our default currency is USD (American dollar), but you can also pay in EUR (euro), GBP (British pound sterling) or PLN (Polish zloty). You can change the currency you want to pay in at the Pricing page before selecting a subscription plan.

How can I edit an e-lesson plan?

You can get your own editable copy of an e-lesson plan and make changes to it. To do so, either (1) make a copy of it on your Google Drive (preferable method) or (2) download it in a Powerpoint format (but formatting might be a bit off so we can’t guarantee that it will work well).
