A1 Lesson Plans

It’s official! ESL Brains can now be your number one resource for all your teaching materials, including A1 lessons!

After months of hard work and planning, we couldn’t be prouder to announce that we are now publishing lessons at elementary level. We hope you love them as much as we do!

So, let’s tell you a bit about them…

Why should you choose ESL Brains lesson plans for your A1 students?

Our A1 worksheets are not your typical A1 lesson plans!

The variety of fun and engaging activities won’t let your students get bored for a second. Grammar and vocabulary are presented in a student-friendly way which allows learners to absorb the material step by step without ever feeling overwhelmed. Your students probably learn English to communicate in the real world, so the blend of controlled and semi-controlled speaking practice will help them gain confidence using new vocabulary and structures.

And don’t fret: we haven’t forgotten about using authentic videos! At ESL Brains, we feel that even beginners should be exposed to a variety of accents and different contexts so that they can speak authentic English from the very start.

Are A1 lesson plans different from other ESL Brains lesson plans?

They are just as amazing, so you can expect everything you already love about higher-level ESL Brains lessons!

However, since teaching A1 students poses different challenges, here are some slight differences you might pick up on in our A1 lesson plans:

  • Videos are supplemented with audio recordings in order to ensure sufficient listening practice for beginners.
  • Some videos are used in unusual ways to maximise their purpose within the lesson.
  • There is also heavier focus on controlled and semi-controlled practice than in higher levels.
  • The worksheets constitute more Lesson Sets to facilitate an easier and more structured learning experience for beginners.

What A1 lesson plans are available from ESL Brains?

From daily routine to food, our lesson plans cover everyday topics for beginners and they all contain our signature ESL Brains twist! Most of the lesson plans are in sets, which will structure your students’ learning experience.

We will be publishing one new A1 lesson plan every Sunday from now until the end of 2024. After that, we’ll slow down a bit, and publish them at a similar pace to other levels, but you can expect new lessons on a regular basis.

We’re so excited to be adding a new level to the ESL Brains platform, and we hope you’re going to enjoy using these lessons as much as we enjoyed creating them. Who knows? Now you might be able to take your students from A1 to C2, using exclusively ESL Brains materials!

As always, we need your feedback to guide us as we continue to make more A1 lesson plans. We want our materials to cater for teachers’ needs, so don’t be shy – let us know what you think!

This is such a great idea and timing. I mainly use this website because it is more engaging and interesting compared to the textbook format. Now, there is equal opportunity for my A1 students! Thanks so much and keep up the amazing work!

Thank you so much for making this happen! I’ve been using your material with my other students, and they absolutely love it! Now my A1 students can enjoy it too. I have one question though—I’m subscribed to the Premium Plan. How often do you plan to release new A1 lessons for Premium members?

Hi Fabiana! Thanks for the comment! That’s just awesome that your students love our lessons 🙂 As part of the Premium plan, you will get a new A1 lesson every second Sunday (until the end of 2024, then we’ll publish them at a similar pace to other levels).
