WARM-UP & VIDEO

The worksheet starts with students looking at the list of activities (e.g. voting, signing a contract, opening a bank account) and say what they have to do to complete them. After that, they also discuss if these activities are organised effectively in their country and what can be done to improve these processes. Then, students read three sentences from the video they are going to watch and choose the meaning of the phrases in bold. They also practise the phrases by completing sentences with their ideas. This lesson on digitalization includes a video about e-Estonia which students watch in three parts. First, they watch the introduction and try to answer what the video is about. After that, they watch the second part and answer some questions. Finally, students watch the last part of the video and make notes about two topics. They also discuss the video and say if they have anything similar to e-Estonia in their country.

VOCABULARY & MORE SPEAKING

In this part of the worksheet, students read a short text and complete it with the given words. The words are connected to problems and problem-solving (e.g. impediments, in over your head, tackle, etc.). Students discuss the text and try to practise the vocabulary. They share their experience with facing challenging tasks and talk about the time they tried to make a change. In the last activity of this lesson on digitalization, students have to imagine they work for the PR department in a government institution. They come up with a campaign related to the digitalization of a service. Students have to make it appealing to the general public and take into account possible impediments.

Amazing, the only thing is… Ukraine has even more functions than Estonia for e-government, so as a Ukrainian I was a little bit surprised that you didn’t mention it( My students thought that as well(

    1. Olia

As Ukrainian myself I know what you mean, but the lesson is about e-government tools in general and students are free to talk about any applications. e-Estonia is just one of the examples 🙂

How can I edit an e-lesson plan?

You can get your own editable copy of an e-lesson plan and make changes to it. To do so, either (1) make a copy of it on your Google Drive (preferable method) or (2) download it in a Powerpoint format (but formatting might be a bit off so we can’t guarantee that it will work well).
