Vocabulary - talking about Christmas

Christmas worksheet

LESSON OVERVIEW

With this Christmas worksheet, students talk about holiday traditions, watch a video about a school for Santas and learn vocabulary related to the festive season.

B2 / Upper Intermediate60 minStandard LessonUnlimited Plan

VOCABULARY

In the warm-up activity students look at four categories and think of three words connected to each of them. Then, they read six statements and have to match the words in bold (e.g. uplifting, uphold, cherish) in the statements with their synonyms in the box. Students can figure out the meanings of the words from the context. The words are used in the video and throughout this Christmas worksheet. Students also need to choose three of the statements and discuss whether they are true for them. Before doing the next task, the teacher can ask students what they think it takes to be a Santa. After that, students read a short Santa job ad and need to discuss some questions about it.

VIDEO & SPEAKING

Before watching the video, students think about three things that Santas learn at Santa University. They watch the video and see if they were right. They also list other things Santas learn during the training. Before the second viewing, students look at six statements about being a Santa and have to discuss what they might mean (e.g. It’s more of a calling than it is a job.). They watch the video for the second time and tick the statements they hear. After the viewing, students have a short discussion about the video and being a Santa. Then, they need to do four short tasks related to being a Santa (e.g. pronouncing some Christmas words correctly) and decide which one was the most challenging for them. In the last task of this Christmas worksheet, students have a longer discussion about Christmas. They also talk about other religious holidays.

Amazing class!! Any plans for A1 lessons?

    1. Stan

I’ll have to disappoint you as we don’t plan to introduce A1 lessons at this point. We prefer to focus on what we do well (higher level lesson plans) but, of course, it doesn’t mean we won’t change our mind in the future.

Is there a minimum subscription period if I choose a monthly subscription?

No, there’s no minimum required number of subscription months. You can cancel any time you want. Basically, you can sign up and then cancel your subscription the next day, which will mean you have access for 1 month and won’t be charged again.

What currencies can I pay in for my subscription?

Our default currency is USD (American dollar), but you can also pay in EUR (euro), GBP (British pound sterling) or PLN (Polish zloty). You can change the currency you want to pay in at the Pricing page before selecting a subscription plan.

How can I edit an e-lesson plan?

You can get your own editable copy of an e-lesson plan and make changes to it. To do so, either (1) make a copy of it on your Google Drive (preferable method) or (2) download it in a Powerpoint format (but formatting might be a bit off so we can’t guarantee that it will work well).
