Your feedback matters: answers to your most common questions

Recently, we ran a survey, and we’d like to start with a big thank you to everyone who took the time to share their experience with ESL Brains and give us feedback. We were truly happy to read so many kind comments and thoughtful suggestions.

Some points came up more than once, so we’d like to respond to them and explain what we already offer and what we’re currently working on.

“I’d like a full English course, not just standalone lessons”

Originally, ESL Brains was designed as a library of standalone lessons to be used as supplementary material. But we know that for many teachers, ESL Brains has become the main teaching resource. That’s why we started building more continuity. First, Lesson Sets (2–3 connected lessons by topic or function). Then, Lesson Flows for different levels and industry-specific topics. And yes, we even have a Lesson Flow for teens now! And there are more to come.

“There are no homework materials”

Good news: there are 🙂

  • Our standard lessons and Vocabulary Lab worksheets include a homework task. You’ll find it at the end of the teacher’s version of the lesson.
  • We’ve recently launched a Revision Task Generator – an AI-powered tool which lets you quickly create extra practice based on our lessons. More task types are coming soon to add more variety. And it couldn’t be easier to use: just a few clicks to generate tasks and download a ready-to-use PDF.

“There are very few vocabulary lessons”

Vocabulary Lab worksheets are a relatively new format at ESL Brains. We started publishing them a few months ago, and since then we’ve been consistently expanding this part of the library, with three new Vocabulary Lab worksheets added every month. As the format grows, the range of topics and language covered continues to broaden as well.

“I’d like materials based on recent news”

We hear you, which is why we introduced News for Classroom Use: a weekly piece of news with ready-made discussion tasks that are easy to use with your students right away.

At the same time, creating an ESL Brains lesson takes time, and every lesson goes through careful planning, writing, reviewing, proofreading and quality checks to ensure the highest material quality. That’s why our core lessons focus on evergreen topics that remain practical, relevant and classroom-ready, even as the world changes faster than ever.

“There aren’t enough grammar exercises and games”

We actually have quite a lot of them 🙂

  • There are worksheets with standalone grammar-focused activities for more practice. For example, this one, this one or even this one.
  • We also have many lessons that include games or even entire worksheets built around game-style activities. Just check out the topic Games!

“There isn’t much material to practise reading and writing skills”

ESL Brains focuses heavily on speaking with a communicative approach – that’s at the heart of what we do. However, we absolutely agree that all skills matter.

That’s why:

  • We also offer the Critical Reading Club format: authentic articles students read independently and then discuss in class.
  • Some of our lessons include writing tasks. You can find dedicated materials under the Writing Skills topic.

“I’d love to be able to delete specific pages from lessons”

You can use some online tools to do the job. You can also make the changes to our e-lessons easily:

  • Get your own copy of an e-lesson → edit it freely (while keeping the ESL Brains logo intact) → download your customised version as a PDF and share it with students.

This gives you full control over what you use in class.

“Can my school pay for a subscription?”

Yes, absolutely. We already work with institutions that purchase access for their teachers. We offer:

  • Special institutional pricing.
  • A ready-made sales pitch to help you show your school the value of ESL Brains and convince them to cover the subscription.

Just reach out to us – we’ll be happy to help.

Once again, thank you for your honesty, your ideas and your support. Your feedback helps us grow and build ESL Brains in a way that truly supports teachers and students alike 💛

Thank you for all the information. I’m currently in a sort of hybrid situation in my class. Some students are real ESL students who need English as a Second Language practice, but there are several who are more on the ELA side of learning. It’s funny, the ELA kids love the ESL stuff because it’s easy for them, but the ESL kids get totally lost in ELA. Anyway, I am always open to using generated material for classrooms. Creating, developing a course AND executing that course is a ton of work. Sites like this help.

    Dear ESL Brains Team,

I would like to share some feedback regarding your materials.

Overall, I really enjoy your content. The lessons are engaging, relevant, and well-structured, and I appreciate the quality and creativity behind them.

That said, I would love to see more materials specifically designed for A1 and A2 levels. In my experience, many lessons labeled as A2 feel closer to B1 in terms of vocabulary and complexity. Having more clearly graded content for lower levels would be extremely helpful for teachers working with beginners and pre-intermediate students.

It would also be a great addition to include more variety in accents, particularly American English audio alongside British English. Alternatively, highlighting both UK and US pronunciation or vocabulary differences within lessons would add even more value.

Additionally, I sometimes find that 60-minute lessons feel slightly short. It would be wonderful to have more lessons designed to comfortably fill a 90-minute session.

Overall, I truly appreciate the quality of your work and regularly use your materials. Thank you for creating such useful resources for teachers.

    Best regards,

    1. Queenliz

I am also in need of more A1 lesson material for adults who is really new to speaking English. I agree with this request as I also find that A2 feel closer to B1 in terms of complexity.

Thank you! We hear you and are taking this into account in our planning 🙂
