LESSON OVERVIEW
In this A2 lesson about the environment, students watch a video about five tips on how to save the ocean, learn some vocabulary related to the environment and do several speaking tasks.
VOCABULARY & VIDEO
At the beginning of this A2 lesson about the environment, students look at a meme about the environment and discuss why it is important to care for oceans. Then, they read a short text and compare their ideas from the warm-up task with those in the text. They also match some words from the text (e.g. environment, waste, protect) with their meanings. After that, students look at three photos and complete the names of objects presented in them (e.g. reusable water bottle, light bulb). They also discuss if they use these objects and whether using them can help the environment. Next, students watch the first part of the video and explain how the listed things can help the environment (e.g. tote bags, LED light bulbs). Before watching the second part of the video, students look at some words describing the other tips and guess what the tips might be. Finally, they watch the second part of the video and check their answers.
SPEAKING
In this part of the lesson students discuss the tips from the video and talk about their experience with the natural world: seas, oceans, rivers and forests. They also say what else they can do to protect the environment and whether they would be willing to do it. After that, students read a dialogue and choose the phrases which work best in the context (e.g. Yes, that sounds fun., Would you like to come?, I’m not sure about that.). In the last task of this A2 lesson about the environment, students imagine that they are going to organise an environmental event. There are four pictures to inspire students, e.g. planting trees, cleaning the forest. When they are ready, they work in pairs and invite their partner to join the event. They need to use the phrases from the previous exercise.

I liked the lesson, but in the video the man speaks really fast for this level!
I like the new look PPT but the answer slide for the vocabulary is a little confusing with the coloured lines not being straight. Perhaps you could make this slide a little simpler? Thanks!
Thanks for your feedback!
I agree that the man speaks really fast and if your students struggle with it, try changing the playback speed to 0.75. I hope it helps:)
As for our new design, we worked really hard on it and we’d like you to give it a try. If you use it in a slideshow mode, it shouldn’t be confusing as the lines appear one by one. BTW, you can read more about our new lesson plan design here
