August was a great month for us at ESL Brains! We published new lesson plans on all kinds of topics, ranging from performance reviews 🔍 to modern dating 💑, and even life philosophies! 🥀

August in a Nutshell

We published 13 new worksheets💪, including:

FREE lesson plan:

  • Avoiding culture clashes 

    C1 students explore cross-cultural communication in business! They share experiences and opinions, learn about an international business framework, discuss scenarios, and practise collocations.

PREMIUM+ lesson plans ($6+):

  1. Mommunes

    B1/B2 students talk about family structures and shared parenting. They explore vocabulary to talk about parenting and watch a video about single mothers and children who share households.

  2. Let’s go on a date!

    A2/B1 students discuss types of dating and how dating has changed over the years. They brainstorm dating scenarios, explore opinions, learn vocabulary, and discuss a video about speed dating.
     
  3. Advanced prepositions

    C1 students practise advanced prepositions in various contexts, discuss experiences and explore prepositional phrases. They study verbs with dependent prepositions and prepositions in binomials.

  4. Reported speech activities

    B2 students practise reported speech in various situations. They report on audio recordings and film clips, use reporting verbs and work on reported questions. Students also play a fun quest game!

  5. Avoiding culture clashes

    B1 students talk about human impact on the planet! They watch a video about plastic pollution, practise collocations related to environmental actions, and discuss environmental responsibility.
     
  2. ESG: From compliance to commitment

    In this Speaking lesson, C1/C2 students explore ESG regulation! They discuss the implementation, necessity,and purpose of ESG, watch a video on anti-ESG sentiment and discuss controversial opinions.

  3. Beauty in the broken (life philosophies)

    C2 students discuss the idea of imperfection, watch a video about Kintsugi, and practise advanced vocabulary. They also talk about​ their experiences and other philosophies around the world.

  4. A trip down memory lane…

    In this Speaking lesson, B1 students learn vocabulary, and discuss a video about photo preservation. They consider how photo-taking has changed over the years and share what they do with their photos.
     
  5. Trades and trends!

    Get to know your new class in this first lesson with B2/C1 Business students! They discuss their language journeys, watch and discuss a video about corporate trends, learn collocations, and revise grammar.

  6. Do you know your needs?

    In this Speaking lesson, B1 students learn collocations with need’. They discuss a video on Maslow’s hierarchy, apply the theory to various areas, and and talk about needs and priorities

  7. Time for a performance review!

    In this Flipped lesson, B2 students learn functional vocabulary for performance reviews. They discuss performance management tools, consider hypothetical situations, do a role-play, and watch a video.

  8. Ordering groceries online

    With this CRC lesson, B1 students consider the pros and cons of ordering groceries online! ​They discuss consumer preferences, explore niche online grocery stores, and learn useful vocabulary.
