LESSON OVERVIEW

The main objectives of this lesson are to:

  • read and discuss an article about the use of AI in podcasts;
  • practise vocabulary to talk about podcasts;
  • share personal perspectives on podcasts.

With this lesson, students comment on podcast-related statistics, talk about their podcast listening habits and explore vocabulary to talk about the topic (e.g. authentic, bond, launch, etc.). They also explain what the article is about, discuss the pros and cons of podcast translation by AI, and talk about their ideas if they launched a 100% AI-generated podcast.

Critical Reading ClubUnlimited Plan

This is a Critical Reading Club worksheet. With this format, students need to read an online article at home and do the exercises in the classroom. Learn more about how to use such worksheets and their benefits in our post.

ACTIVITIES

This lesson starts with a warm-up where students look at podcast-related statistics and comment on them. Then, they discuss questions about their experiences and points of view on podcasts. After that, students brainstorm words to complete gaps in some comments about podcasts. Next, they look at the words in the boxes and choose the best one for each gap. Following that, students choose comments and discuss to what extent they agree with them. Afterwards, they say what the article they read is about using the provided phrases (e.g. access new markets, authentic experience, AI-generated podcaster’s voice, etc.). Then, students discuss questions about podcasts translated by AI, authenticity, cultural impact, possible implications and other uses of AI for podcasters. Finally, they suppose they have decided to launch an AI-generated podcast and explain why some statements (e.g. AI will do it faster and cheaper than any human-led team would) would be true.

Questions

Is there a minimum subscription period if I choose a monthly subscription?

No, there's no minimum required number of subscription months. You can cancel any time you want. Basically, you can sign up and then cancel your subscription the next day, which will mean you have access for 1 month and won't be charged again.

What currencies can I pay in for my subscription?

Our default currency is USD (American dollar), but you can also pay in EUR (euro), GBP (British pound sterling) or PLN (Polish zloty). You can change the currency you want to pay in at the Pricing page before selecting a subscription plan.

How can I edit an e-lesson plan?

You can get your own editable copy of an e-lesson plan and make changes to it. To do so, either (1) make a copy of it on your Google Drive (preferable method) or (2) download it in a Powerpoint format (but formatting might be a bit off so we can’t guarantee that it will work well).
