As always, September was a busy month for us at ESL Brains…🏃‍♀️

We hit the academic ground running and published new lesson plans on all kinds of topics, ranging from Research & Development 🔬 to gender stereotypes ⚧️, and even ethical dilemmas in science! 🧬

What we’re most excited about this September, however, is the long-awaited release of our A1 Lesson Plans! If you haven’t checked them out yet, feel free to explore them here.

September in a Nutshell

We published 13 new worksheets💪, including:

FREE lesson plan:

  • Sustainable stays: eco-friendly hotels

    B2 students discuss hospitality waste and sustainability! They watch a video about recycling half-used hotel soaps, learn useful vocabulary, and discuss a text about an imaginary hotel.

PREMIUM+ lesson plans ($6+):

  1. At your own risk

    B1 students discuss risky aspects of ‘safe’ jobs, as well as dangerous careers. They share opinions, imagine scenarios, and learn vocabulary. They also watch a video about the NZ police force! 

  2. Ethical dilemmas in science

    C1 students discuss ethical dilemmas in science! They practise useful phrases to express opinions, watch a video on gene editing technology and analyse comments on ethical debates.

  3. Challenging gender stereotypes

    B1 students discuss gender stereotypes! They practise adjectives to describe people, watch a video on women in sports and read texts about women who challenged stereotypes.

  4. Sustainable stays: eco-friendly hotels

  1. Was your childhood any different?

    A2 students discuss changes in childhood and parenting! They practise vocabulary on kids’ activities and behaviour, watch a video on a forest preschool and read a text about Montessori education.

  2. In a league of your own

    C2 students discuss success, awards and famous individuals, and learn vocabulary on challenges and achievements. They explore Olympic Games quotes and watch a video about an athlete.

  3. How about a tattoo?

    In this A2 Speaking lesson, students watch a video about tattoo tourism, share opinions and revise collocations with the word ‘tattoo’. They discuss workplace discrimination against people with tattoos.

  4. How good is your memory?

    B1 students discuss habits, abilities, and tips to remember things! They share experiences, examine memory techniques, and learn vocabulary. They also discuss a video about a memory championship.

  5. Uncertain times in business

    In this C1/C2 Speaking lesson, students explore attitudes towards difficult situations. They revise vocabulary, watch a video on a business framework, and discuss handling real-life challenges.

  6. What do they look like?

    In this Flipped lesson, A2 students practise vocabulary to talk about physical appearance. They watch a video on women’s self-image, explore filler words, and debate self-image and beauty standards.

  7. Gen Z’s penchant for sad music

    With this CRC lesson, C1 students discuss Gen Z’s preference for sad music and learn useful vocabulary for the topic. They talk about changes in music trends, analyse comments, and share opinions.

  8. Past Simple activities

    A2 students review Past Simple! They practise the pronunciation of verb endings, work on the verb ‘be’ , and revise regular and irregular verbs. They play a game and complete short stories using past forms.
