LESSON SET OVERVIEW

With this lesson set, your students will:

  • learn how to use articles in English,
  • explore and practise vocabulary to describe houses and rooms,
  • work on listening comprehension skills through an audio recording and videos,
  • improve speaking skills by participating in role play and multiple discussions about dream houses and favourite rooms. 

The lessons in the set are connected by the common topic of accommodation. Students have a chance to practise both the grammar acquired in the first lesson and the vocabulary learned in the following lessons.

Renting a flat (articles)

General Grammar

In the first lesson of this set, students work with grammar and learn how to use articles (a, an, the, no article) while discussing renting places to live. Students also do role play between a landlord and a person looking for a flat.

Students learn useful vocabulary to talk about different types of houses as well as the phrases to describe size, location, amenities, etc. Encourage students to practise using articles in ex. 3 (slide 8) while discussing the advantages and disadvantages of different types of houses and in ex. 8-10 (slides 18-22) where they describe houses more.

Students learn the names of rooms, positive, negative and neutral adjectives to describe them and the structure What + adjective + noun. Encourage students to practise using articles in ex. 4 (slides 10-12) and in discussions in ex. 5 (slide 14) and ex. 9 (slide 24).

Is there a minimum subscription period if I choose a monthly subscription?

No, there's no minimum required number of subscription months. You can cancel any time you want. Basically, you can sign up and then cancel your subscription the next day, which will mean you have access for 1 month and won't be charged again.

How can I edit an e-lesson plan?

You can get your own editable copy of an e-lesson plan and make changes to it. To do so, either (1) make a copy of it on your Google Drive (preferable method) or (2) download it in a Powerpoint format (but formatting might be a bit off so we can’t guarantee that it will work well).
