Critical Reading ClubUnlimited Plan

This is a Critical Reading Club worksheet. With this format, students need to read an online article at home and do the exercises in the classroom. Learn more about how to use such worksheets and their benefits in our post.

ACTIVITIES

The worksheet starts with a warm-up activity. Students discuss their first reaction to the question in the article title. They share whether it was positive or negative and explain why. After that, students work with vocabulary. They read some statements and find the synonyms of the words that are provided.

Then, students think of two things that would happen if humans vanished. They discuss aspects like city infrastructure, home, and nature. Students also discuss questions and talk about more hypothetical situations (e.g. What would happen to famous places like the Eiffel Tower? and What would humans do differently if they wanted to rebuild civilization?). Later, they read some excerpts from the article and answer the questions about them. As a final activity, students imagine they have to answer similar questions. They choose one of the provided questions (e.g. What would happen if people stopped flying? or What would happen if everyone became vegetarian?). Students come up with as many ideas as possible and consider different aspects of life and various perspectives.

Yesterday I did this lesson with a student of mine and he was so fascinated by the subject. I recommend using this lesson:)

Awesome lesson! I’d love to see more like this, with a less business-oriented focus. Thanks!

Questions

Title separator

Is there a minimum subscription period if I choose a monthly subscription?

No, there's no minimum required number of subscription months. You can cancel any time you want. Basically, you can sign up and then cancel your subscription the next day, which will mean you have access for 1 month and won't be charged again.

What currencies can I pay in for my subscription?

Our default currency is USD (American dollar), but you can also pay in EUR (euro), GBP (British pound sterling) or PLN (Polish zloty). You can change the currency you want to pay in at the Pricing page before selecting a subscription plan.

How can I edit an e-lesson plan?

You can get your own editable copy of an e-lesson plan and make changes to it. To do so, either (1) make a copy of it on your Google Drive (preferable method) or (2) download it in a Powerpoint format (but formatting might be a bit off so we can’t guarantee that it will work well).
