Speaking ClassUnlimited Plan

This is a Speaking Class worksheet. It includes a variety of tasks that let your students practise their speaking skills. This lesson format does not focus on grammar or vocabulary. Learn more about it here.

SPEAKING ACTIVITIES

The worksheet starts with an activity where students choose between opposing statements and explain their choices. In this activity they talk about fashion in general. They share whether they have enough clothes, what they prefer to wear at the weekend, how often they buy new clothes and how being well-dressed makes them feel. Then, they move on to another task that includes discussion questions about fashion. First, they go over the attitude of different generations to it, how often trends repeat, etc. The activity also brings up current trends, fashion rules and how fashion today is different from the past. After that, to express their views on fashion even more, students try finishing a sentence (“Fashion is not only …”) with two ideas. To elaborate on this activity, teachers can follow it up by showing students a screenshot with Google search prompts and asking students to compare the results with their ideas.

QUOTES AND DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

For the closing activity, students look at the number of quotes by two famous women (Anna Wintour, the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, and Iris Apfel, a businesswoman, interior designer and fashion icon). There are a few specific discussion questions about fashion for each quotation. The idea is to facilitate a conversation and compel students to talk about fashion and self-expression. The quotes raise various topics (from fashion being a serious industry to buying things only when you really love and appreciate them and not because they are valuable).

fashion is a great topic to talk on it but unfortunately the content is so poor. There is no video, creative exercise but only usual questions. You can expand vocabulary part. but anyway thank you for your contribution…

    1. Stan

Thanks for this feedback Tufan. It’s one of the first lessons in this format and it has a few tasks that are based on questions, statements and quotes to discuss. As we keep on developing the format further, we take various pieces of feedback into consideration and implement them to make the next worksheets better.

  2. Adriana Chagas

I love the topic, and I have to agree that it could be a little more challenging, but it doesn’t mean we cannot do it ourselves, since the collection of quotes is already good. I am going to work on conjunctions and encourage my student to use them when supporting her arguments.

Hi Adriana! Thanks for taking the time to comment and for an idea for lesson extension! Good luck with your classes 🙂

Is there a minimum subscription period if I choose a monthly subscription?

No, there’s no minimum required number of subscription months. You can cancel any time you want. Basically, you can sign up and then cancel your subscription the next day, which will mean you have access for 1 month and won’t be charged again.

What currencies can I pay in for my subscription?

Our default currency is USD (American dollar), but you can also pay in EUR (euro), GBP (British pound sterling) or PLN (Polish zloty). You can change the currency you want to pay in at the Pricing page before selecting a subscription plan.

How can I edit an e-lesson plan?

You can get your own editable copy of an e-lesson plan and make changes to it. To do so, either (1) make a copy of it on your Google Drive (preferable method) or (2) download it in a Powerpoint format (but formatting might be a bit off so we can’t guarantee that it will work well).
