The lessons help students expand their vocabulary, develop their grammar and become more confident communicating in English. What’s inside part 2 of A2 General Lesson Flow?
This is Part 2 of the pre-intermediate flow that should be used with students who already know their basics and are ready to start communicating in English. This part contains 20 lessons with fun and useful follow-up lessons for more practice. You can see part 1 of the A2 General Lesson Flow here.
Developing language skills
With part 2 of A2 General Lesson Flow, your students will work on:
- speaking skills while talking about celebration ideas, social media, applications, big cities and transport, describing houses and cities, describing someone’s appearance, comparing devices, giving directions, life experiences, talking about shopping and spending money, invitations and events; discussing experiences of losing or finding items, giving and receiving compliments, making decision and decision fatigue, stress issues; talking about places to live and visit, renting a flat, clothes, films and books; role-playing interviews; playing a guessing game; describing plans; practising pronunciation, playing various games;
- listening skills with a video guide around a large shopping centre, a news report from an airport lost and found, a video in which people play a guessing game; a video about favourite rooms; two videos about technology; a video about the cost of living; a street interview in which people answer questions about summer plans; a news report about city transport, videos about San Diego and Oslo, an Uber app ad and clothes ad; a celebrity interview, a video in which a man compliments strangers; an animated video; a self-help video; a street interview in which people answer questions about their dream home; recordings of a dialogue about renting a flat and people making and responding to invitations; a video clip from Friends;
- reading skills with a text about Opposite Day, an article about decision fatigue, a text about trends in gift giving; phonetic transcriptions;
- writing skills while writing answers to questions.
Improving grammar, vocabulary and functional language
Part 2 of the Flow also makes your students learn and practise:
- vocabulary: related to: shopping centres, money, places in town, appearance, city and transport, home, films; opposite verbs; vocabulary to talk about applications; useful phrases for city activities; ‘make’ and ‘take’ phrases; expressions with ‘gift’;
- grammar: comparatives and superlatives, ‘be going to’ and ‘will’; quantifiers, asking and answering basic English questions, Present Perfect with ‘ever’ and ‘never’; prepositions of place, the structure ‘would rather’, the phrases ‘but in fact’, ‘look’, ‘look like’ and ‘feel like’, articles;
- functional language: expressing opinions, giving directions, advice structures, filler words, giving and receiving compliments, useful phrases to use when asking and answering basic English questions, making and responding to invitations.
